The Arcam P429 is clever and efficient, designed with versatility for various applications, utilising new class G topology. With normal usage, the sound distortion of this amplifier is measured at less than 1/1,000,000 so the power for this amplifier is delivered with control and finesse.
Arcam is highly experienced in designing amplifiers, the P429 takes advantage of Arcam's extensive experience and has only the best components, to give you many years of reliable music pleasure.
By employing a modern class G amplifier, a toroidal transformer power supply, a dampened chassis, complementary transistor output stages, with an exceptionally low amount of distortion and noise, means the P429 is highly capable of reproducing the details in music. With the P429 you will hear your music just as the artist originally intended, free from unwanted artefacts.
Class G Amplification
Similar to a hybrid engine in a car, Class G amplifiers use more than one power supply. The hybrid amplifiers work by adding extra amplification if a signal is received that goes beyond the capacity of this first power supply. The second supply is introduced gradually, with the power increasing as needed. The result of the class G design is that the amplifier is very efficient with additional power only used when it is required, similar to a car's turbocharger. The switching between power supplies is via modern high-speed silicon to ensure no “turbo lag” even beyond the audio bandwidth.
The first power supply has lower power and runs in pure Class A, which has no crossover distortion. Since the secondary supply is only used when required, so increased levels of power are possible because so little energy is wasted, in the form as heat, when it is not being used. To control this power, multiple output devices within the amplifier keep a tight grip on the loudspeaker at all times.
AV or Stereo
AV enthusiasts will love the ability to add matching class G amplification to their AVR390, AVR550 or AV850 for a full 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos setup. Hi-Fi Stereo fans will welcome the addition of the bridged operation mode,, which gives up to 270 watts of power per channel. Other features make setting up this amplifier to be very easy, such as IP and RS232 control, 12V In/Out triggers, and with individual channel trims they make the P429 the perfect choice for the installer.
Arcam has made great leaps in improving audio sources and loudspeakers in recent years and now they have turned their attention to the field of amplifier design. This amplifier is truly groundbreaking, an amplifier for music lovers who understand the relationship between power and control.
